Presidential Elections in Ukraine 2019
Presidential elections are held on March 31 in Ukraine.
The Ukrainian voters can choose between 39 candidates running for president, but only three have a solid chance to win.
Among these three candidates are Comedian Volodymyr Zelensky (28%), incumbent President Petro Poroshenko (18%) and opposition leader Yulia Tymoshenko (18%). The political newcomer Zelenski is leading in the polls.
The election commission confirmed the monitoring by more than 2344 registered observers representing 18 countries and 18 international organizations. The government of Ukraine did not allow Russian observers to monitor the elections.
One of the candidates needs 50% of the vote in the first round, otherwise a second round of voting will be held, according to Ukrainian law.
