Russia's Lavrov Meets De Facto Minister of Breakaway Abkhazia
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met the "foreign minister" of Georgia’s breakaway Abkhazia, Daur Kove, in Moscow.
The official website of the Russian Foreign Ministry cites Lavrov’s opening remarks at the meeting:
“We are pleased with our regular meetings. We have good dynamics in bilateral relations. Political contacts are at the highest level. Last year, President Vladimir Putin and President Raul Khajimba met twice. In 2017, I was able to visit Sokhumi. Now we welcome you to Moscow.”
Sergey Lavrov noted that "Russia and Abkhazia have a sustainable basis for bilateral relations.”
He also underlined that “Russia continues to support Abkhazia in strengthening positions on the international arena.”
