66 Georgians Detained in Barcelona
Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reports that on April 4, a massive special operation was conducted in Barcelona with the participation of Georgian law enforcers as a result of which more than 100 citizens of different countries, including 25 citizens of Georgia, were detained on charges of robbery and membership of an organized criminal group.
In addition to this, 41 Georgian citizens were detained for violating immigration rules. In total, 66 Georgians have been detained.
The operation was carried out in a former school building which had been illegally occupied by the criminal groups.
The large-scale special operation in Barcelona was preceded by one-year operational-investigative works in Spain and Georgia conducted jointly by the National Police of the Kingdom of Spain and the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
