Human Rights Council’s New Measures to be Discussed
According to the Prime minister Press Office, Mamuka Bakhtadze held a meeting with NGO representatives to present the country's human rights situation and challenges. They discussed measures to be implemented in order to ensure the effectiveness of the Human Rights Council and the Prime Minister presented his vision for the council’s future works.
This council has been created in 2014 and aims at implementing the Georgian Government's unified human rights policy and coordinate its action plan. It is chaired by the Prime Minister and gathers state institutions alongside representatives of Georgia's Public Defender, legislative and judiciary branches, NGOs and international organizations.
During the event, they agreed to carry on with discussions at a next meeting before the end of the month.
