President of Cyprus Visits Georgia for the First Time
The President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades is paying his first ever official visit to Georgia from April 16 - 18.
During his visit, Anastasiades will meet with Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze and Presidential Speaker Irakli Kobakhidze.
Today, Anastasiades met with his Georgian counterpart Salome Zurbishvili in Avalbari palace of official ceremonies.
The pair signed agreements related to healthcare and medicine, agriculture, and the exchange of classified information.
“Cyprus and Georgia crossed a historic day in their bilateral today,” tweeted Zurabishvili. “President Anastasiades, welcome to Georgia and I look forward to the productive conversations we are set to have in the next two days.”
Zurabishvili underlined the need to boost economic relations between the two countries. “A business forum tomorrow will serve this goal,” she affirmed.
She also spoke of the lessons Georgia can take from Cyrpus’ experience of EU integration.
Anastasiades reciprocated the desire to strengthen economic and cultural ties between the two countries: “I feel at home in Georgia,” he said.
