Tbilisi Documentary Film Festival to be Held in Tbilisi

CinéDOC, the Tbilisi Documentary Film Festival will take place from October 21st-25th in the Rustaveli and Amirani cinemas in the center of Tbilisi. The festival is the first festival in the Southern Caucasus that focuses solely on creative documentary films.

The festival is entering its third year and contains competitive sections as well. These include the International Competition, Focus Caucasus, CinéDOC Young, Guest Country (Israel) and Women in Frame. Focus Caucasus presents documentaries selected from Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Russia and Turkey.

The film screenings will be followed by Q&A sessions and debates with guest filmmakers, master classes with renowned film professionals and open sessions with international guests.

The festival will also include workshops and industry meetings for young documentary film makers and producers. Experienced documentary professionals have been invited from all over the world to attend project development and presentation sessions in Tbilisi.

The audience will have a chance to view a variety of documentary films, each with a unique directorial vision, original visual style and sympathetic protagonists with powerful stories to tell.

The International competition shortlisted 10 creative films.

Seven documentaries have been selected on the Caucasus region for the Focus Caucasus section.

The Women in Frame section will highlight the way women’s issues are presented in documentaries. Georgia is one of the few countries in Europe in which the most successful documentary filmmakers are women. Seven films have been shortlisted for this section.

CinéDOC Young is a section that offers a unique program for children and teenagers to show their skills. There are seven films in this section.

Finally five films have been selected for the new Guest Country section which this year is Israel.
