Georgia Hosts “LOGDEV 2019”

Command and Staff Multinational Logistics Training "LOGDEV 2019" is officially launched. Defense Minister Levan Izoria, Chief of Defense Forces Vladimer Chachibaia and J-7 Representative of the United States Joint Staff, Stephen Metson, Director of Logistics Development Program, addressed the invited guests at the opening ceremony.

During his speech, the Minister of Defense paid the special attention on teaching and its aims. "For the first time, Georgia hosts international logistics training in which NATO 12 member countries participate. The aim of the training is to get logistical support closer to NATO standards and enable us to operate in multinational environments, "said Levan Izoria.

The training will be conducted in Vaziani, on the territory base of IV Mechanized Brigade. 130 military servicemen from 12 countries will participate in "LOGDEV 2019", including Azerbaijan, Albania, USA, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Georgia, Serbia, Ukraine, Finland, Sweden and Croatia.

The goal of the training is to improve NATO logistics doctrines and improve the skills of using alliance’s information systems, Also, the unit formation, transition, provision of logistical support in the operation areas and achieving interoperability between the participants in conducting drawdown issues.

The opening ceremony was attended by the deputy commanders of the Defense Forces, representatives of the Office of Defense Cooperation (ODC) and the staff participating in the training.

Multinational logistics training is carried out under the guidance of J-7 of the Joint Staff of the United States, with the support of the European Command of United States Army and the Ministry of Defense of Georgia. Multinational logistics training will be concluded on May 17, at the base of IV Mechanized Brigade.
