Georgian FM: Int’l Community Calls on Russia to Fulfill Its Obligations
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Davit Zalkaliani said that the situation that has been created in terms of international relations in the world is triggered by fact that the Russian Federation does not fulfill its international commitments, turning the international agenda upside down. He added that the international community is calling on Russia to fulfill its obligations.
The Minister made the statement while commenting on the possible return of the Russian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
Zalkaliani said it is inadmissible to divert from the norms and values of international law, which is the foundation of international law and organizations.
“Naturally, Georgia is committed to these principles and our position will correspond to those principles,” he said.
According to him, Georgia is widely represented on the agenda of the Council of Europe.
“This is evidenced by the fact that the ministerial meeting will approve the Secretary-General's report Conflict in Georgia which describes the grave human rights situation or other problems in the occupied regions of Georgia, which were caused by Russia’s occupation of these territories,” he added.
The Georgian delegation, led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, is participating in the 129th session of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Council of Europe.
