Girchi Party Activists Hand Out Candies during By-Elections
Activists of non-parliamentary Georgian opposition party Girchi (Cone) are handing out cone-shaped green candies during today’s by-elections.
The candies depict the symbol of the party and the words: “Freedom Is Sweet.”
The activists say they are carrying out exit-polls. Allegedly the action of the party is a violation of law as it contains the signs of agitation.
Before that, in late-April, the party leader, Zurab Japaridze offered crypto-currency to itheir supporters if they voted for the party candidate in the 2020 elections.
Japaridze said Girchi wants to introduce one candidate to parliament before the parliamentary elections of 2020 and is ready to offer the Mtatsminda District electorate electronic currency - the Georgian Dollar (GeD), created by them.
He said each citizen who votes for Girchi candidate will get $50 equivalent GeD, which, according to the party, will be equivalent to $5,000 dollars in future.
Those who go door-to-door to spread Girchi’s views will be given an equivalent of $900 -90 GeD by the party.
People who will represent the party in the election commission will get $500 equivalent GeD, which, according to Japaridze, will be $50,000 in the future.
The party leader also claims that those who transfer to Mtatsminda district and vote there for Girchi will get $200 equivalent GeD, which will be $20,000 in the future.
