By 15:00 Lowest Voter Turnout Is in Mtatsminda District

The Central Election Commission (CEC) released information about the voter turnout up to 15.00, seeing the lowest turn-out in the Tbilisi Mtatsminda District.

Ana Mikeladze, the CEC Spokesperson, stated that voter turnout by 3 pm was the highest in Sagarejo, while the voting process at all election precincts was being conducted in an "accessible electoral environment."

Mikeladze briefed the media about the number of complaints submitted at the District Election Commissions (DEC).

“So far, 55 complaints have been submitted at the DECs, of which 17 were submitted in Marneuli, 26 in Zugdidi, 4 in Zestaponi and 7 in Khulo. Also, one complaint has been submitted in Ozurgeti, ” she added.

Parliamentary by-elections through a majoritarian election system are underway in N1 Mtatsminda election district today. The elections became necessary after the district majoritarian MP, Salome Zurabishvili, became the first female president of Georgia in November 2018.

Moreover, there are City Council (Sakrebulo) by-elections in Sagarejo, Akhmeta, Adigeni, Zestafoni, Chiatura, Tkibuli, Tskaltubo and Ozurgeti municipality majoritarian election districts. The elections are underway in 26 election precincts in all eight municipalities.

The Central Election Commission (CEC) also appointed Extraordinary Mayoral Elections in Marneuli, Zestafoni, Chiatura, Zugdidi and Khulo municipalities. They are underway in 362 election precincts.
