Mikheil Saakashvili’s Political Party Preparing for Elections

The political party of Mikheil Saakashvili, the former president of Georgia who served as governor of Ukraine's Odesa region in 2015-16, is preparing for upcoming early elections of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. The ex-president of Georgia named ten MP candidates of the party “Movement of New Forces”  on June 13th. Mikheil Saakashvili himself is leading the list.

Davit Sakvarelidze, the former Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine, is the number two in the list. Oles Don, the member of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the 7th convocation, is the third.  Ukrainian chess grandmaster Natalia Zhukova is the fourth, ex-minister of economy Vladimir Lanovoy is the fifth.

The party congress, which approved the list of MP candidates, was held on June 10.

There are over 100 people on the list presented to the media.

Mikheil Saakashvili returned to Ukraine on May 29 after newly elected President Volodymyr Zelensky restored his citizenship.
