Georgian Opera Singers Feature in Woody Allen Play
On July 6, the world-renown Woody Allen debuted at Milan’s La Scala Opera House. He has directed Giacomo Puccino’s comic opera ‘Gianni Schicchi’.
The play, which is set to be in the program of the La Scala’s 2018-2019 season until July 19, features three Georgian opera singers: Giorgi Lomiseli, Lasha Sesitashvili and Tsisana Giorgadze, who take to the stage with the prominent baritone Ambrogio Maestri.
“We have already completed rehearsals,” 25-year-old soprano Giorgadze told Radio Liberty, adding “Our play is scheduled for July 15. It is my debut at La Scala.”
The young opera singer stated it is a big honor to participate in a play directed by Woody Allen.
“He likes our performance, but has also given us some notes. I am very excited,” she said.
