Georgian President: We are United by Common Values

NATO Week 2015 opened in Tbilisi, marking the 10th anniversary of the Information Center on NATO and the EU.

High-ranking guests, including the President of Georgia, the Georgian Minister of Euro-Atlantic Integration, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as ambassadors, were invited.

During the event, President Giorgi Margvelashvili addressed the audience.

“I am glad that today we are at the opening of the NATO Week. It is a traditional occurrence, celebration. We are all standing together here, united by common values and goals that will lead Georgia to a safer, stronger and more stable country,” Margvelashvili said.

Margvelashvili assessed the NATO Wales Summit 2014 - where Georgia received a substantive package - as a victory and opening of the NATO Training and Evaluation Center in Tbilisi. The President thanked everyone who have actively contributed to that important step.

During the event, the Georgian Minister of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, David Bakradze, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Giorgi Kvirikashvili, and the Head of the NATO Liaison Office in Tbilisi, William Lahue, addressed the audience emphasizing the importance of Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

Georgian forces, which recently arrived from an international mission in Afghanistan, also attended the event.

During NATO Week 2015, a number of activities will take place throughout the country, which will be finalized with opening of the new regional informational center for NATO in Gori, Shida Kartli.
