Confirmed by ICAO: Sokhumi Airport is Georgian Airspace
The MFA of Georgia announced today news confirmed to a Georgian representative in the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), that the organization considers Sokhumi Airport as a part of Georgia’s airspace.
The Ambassador of Georgia to Canada and a permanent representative in ICAO, Konstantine Kavtaradze, met up with Dr. Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu, the President of the ICAO Council, Fang Liu, the Secretary General of ICAO and other important members of ICAO.
As reported by the Ambassador, the meeting reviewed the rumors that the occupational regime seeks to start international flights from occupied territories of Abkhazia, namely, Sokhumi.
The members of ICAO pointed out that, as a UN structure, ICAO supports the position of the General Assembly acknowledges Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial unity.
