Georgian Qvevri Presented in Poland

Promotion of Georgian wine and traditional winemaking technologies practiced in the country is ongoing. This time at the Pannonica Folk Festival 2019, one of the largeest folk festivals in Poland

Guests were presented an opportunity to discover Georgian Qvevri, its history, methods of its creation and usage. They were also shown a screening of the ‘Made in Qvevri’ film, telling the story of the ancient Georgian viniculture, as well as the technologies of making Qvevri. The clay kiln was also present on site.

Wine enthusiasts attended seminars on Georgian winemaking, launched within the scope of the festival, and tasted authentic Georgian Qvevri wines.

The Qvevri is an egg-shaped earthenware vessel used for making, ageing and storing wine. Qvevri winemaking practiced across Georgia throughout centuries and passed down from generation to generation, was inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2013.
