De facto Govt. of Tskhinvali Constructs "Police Post" Near Tsnelisi

"The de facto government of Georgia’s Russian-occupied Tskhinvali region started construction of a "police post" at a strategically important high point near the village of Tsnelisi, Kareli municipality, at an altitude of 944 meters" - reports the State News Agency Res, formerly known as the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee.

They are said to have restored the "border mark and raised the South Ossetian flag". They are also building a road leading to the "border checkpoint".

The so-called security committee of Tskhinvali reports that the move comes after Georgia opened a police post in the village of Chorchana on August 29.

“Georgia previously established illegal police post, which caused a serious aggravation of the situation on the border. The South Ossetian Border Service Combined Group has begun arranging a police post on a section of the South Ossetian-Georgian border, west of the village of Uista (Tsnelisi), to ensure the security of locals and prevent provocations from Tbilisi”, reads the statement.

"The arrangement of the post is carried out as part of a special humanitarian operation aimed at maintaining the border regime, ensuring the security of citizens of the Republic of South Ossetia living in the border zone, and stabilizing the military-political situation in the region," the intelligence service said.
