Parliament Chairperson: Georgia is Strategically Ready to Join NATO

“Georgia is strategically ready to join NATO”, Archil Talakvadze, the Chairperson of the Parliament of Georgia stated after meeting with the President of NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Madeleine Moon.

He noted that the visit of the President of NATO Parliamentary Assembly once again proves that Georgia has a big support on its way to joining the Alliance, adding that the reforms implemented within the country are positively apprised.

“We welcome the deepening of the cooperation between Georgia and NATO. The parliamentary dimension that exists between the Parliament of Georgia and the NATO Parliamentary Assembly will remain very strong in the future. Georgia is strategically ready to join NATO. We are proud that Georgian soldiers, along with NATO soldiers, defend the freedom and values that unite us in the most complicated places in the world.

Georgia is strengthening its democracy, it is approved by the reforms that are now underway in terms of changing the electoral system and strengthening democratic institutions.

Georgia remains, and will continue to be, one of the most reliable allies and partners of NATO and the Western family in the region. We take care of our democratic achievements and the security that Georgia has in the region, "Archil Talakvadze said.

He thanked the President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly for cooperation and noted that Georgia remains committed to the common values with the Alliance.

President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly is paying a visit to Tbilisi along with the NATO Parliamentary Delegation on September 12-13. 

Within the framework of the visit, she will meet the members of the Georgia-NATO Interparliamentary Council, representatives of parliamentary factions and the parliamentary majority.

Madeleine Moon will meet with the representatives of the NATO Liaison Office and NGOs.

The guests will visit the NATO-Georgia Training and Assessment Joint Center.
