Zalkaliani Meets FMs of EU Countries
On the sidelines of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly, Georgian Foreign Minister Davit Zalkaliani met with his counterparts from EU countries. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia has reported, that FM Zalkaliani sat down to talk with the Danish, Estonian, Austrian and Greek Foreign Ministers. The meetings were held separately.
While meeting with his EU counterparts, Davit Zalkaliani paid special attention to Georgia’s occupied territories, including the ongoing illegal borderization, closure of checkpoints, increasing the number of detentions of civilians and other destructive activities of the occupation regimes.
The Georgian FM thanked the European Union member countries of Denmark, Estonia, Austria, and Greece, for supporting Georgia’s sovereignty and the country's desire for European integration.
Urmas Reinsalu of Estonia, Alexander Schallenberg of Austria, Nikos Dendias of Greece, and Jeppe Kofod of Denmark, all praised cooperation with Georgia in various cultural and economic fields.
The FMs noted that the situation calls for the active involvement of all parties concerned and the effective use of all available international formats to de-escalate the conflict and achieve security in the region.
