Public Lecture on the Importance of Preserving Architectural Heritage
On September 26, the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia will host a public lecture: On the Importance of Safeguarding Late Soviet Modernist Architectural Heritage.
Estonian heritage conservation expert Riin Alatalu will lead the lecture. Ms. Alatalu will talk about the importance of preserving soviet modernist heritage; the common challenges former Soviet countries faced while safekeeping the architecture. She will also touch upon the adaptation of Soviet-era architectural masterpieces. Examples of successful conservation cases from Estonia, Russia, and Latvia will be presented.
The public lecture starts at 6:30 PM and is scheduled to finish at 7:00 PM.
The event is held within the project Conservation of Modernist Architecture and its Sustainable Use in Georgia; implemented by the Georgian National Committee of the Blue Shield under the Getty Foundation's Keeping It Modern Initiative.
