PM: Today is Hard and Painful Day for Each Citizen of Georgia
“Today is the hardest and painful day for every citizen of Georgia,” Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said while speaking about the 26 anniversary since the fall of Sokhumi, the Capital of currently Russian-occupied Abkhazia region.
Today, the members of the government of Georgia arrived at the memorial of the heroes fallen for Georgia's territorial integrity on the occasion of 26th anniversary of the fall of Sokhumi on September 27, 1993.
The Prime Minister emphasized that each citizen should realize that war is not a solution.
“Sokhumi fell 26 years ago. Since then, we have learned a lot, grown up, both Abkhazians and we. We all realize that war was our greatest tragedy and that peace is crucially important for both Georgians and Abkhazians. It is important for each citizen to understand that war is not a solution. 24-hour hard work, development of the country, democratic institutions, strong Georgia, united Georgia - this is what we must serve and achieve together, " he said.
