Gov't Officials Express Condolences for the Death of Giya Kancheli

Giya Kancheli’s passing has left Georgia heartbroken. Government officials, including the PM and Mayor of Tbilisi, publically expressed their deep sorrow and regret.
“I would like to express my heartfelt sorrow over the death of the greatest Georgian composer Giya Kancheli. His brilliant music has become a treasure for Georgia and the world. I offer my condolences to the family and friends of Giya Kancheli, and the whole country of Georgia,” the official page of the Georgian Government wrote on behalf of PM Gakharia.  

Mayor Kaladze wrote a post on his official Facebook page concerning the sad matter.

“I want to say how deeply sorry I am that we have lost Giya Kancheli - a Georgian composer who was the master of mindset music and a beloved person to us all. This is so sad. He was an acknowledged artist and the winner of many international awards. The acknowledgment of Kancheli was shown through love that Georgian people never ceased to show him. The greatest acknowledgment is the love that he left behind in people’s hearts with his music. I’d like to offer my condolences to the family, relatives, and friends of Giya Kancheli and the whole Georgian society,” he wrote.
