Tbilisi City Hall to Tighten the Fines on Littering
Tbilisi Mayor, Kakha Kaladze has announced that the fines on littering will tighten up. Kaladze made an announcement on the matter before the Tbilisi session. The Mayor reported that draft law is ready and it will soon be presented to the Parliament.
Dropping up to one cubic meter of wastes used to be 200 GEL for an individual, 500 GEL for a legal entity. Now the draft law increases the price of the fine; it will be up to 1000 GEL for an individual and 3000 GEL for the legal entity.
The draft law considers tightening the fines on littering accordingly:
Fine on dropping one to ten cubic meters of inert wastes will raise to 3000 GEL for an individual and 6000 GEL for a legal entity.
Fine on dropping ten to fifty cubic meters of inert wastes will raise to 10000 GEL for an individual and 30000 GEL for a legal entity.
Fine on dropping fifty and over cubic meters of inert wastes will raise to 30000 GEL for an individual and 50000 GEL for a legal entity.
Kakha Kaladze emphasized the significance of the new law, saying that building material waste often ends up in the wrong places, which impacts the environment rather badly.
Tbilisi Mayor said that the fines on medical wastes will also increase in price. People throwing medical wastes in the trash bins of regular rubbish can lead to major health issues. The fine on this unlawful and hazardous act will become 5 000 GEL for individuals and 10 000 GEL for legal entities.
