Constitutional Court Accepts Rustavi 2 Lawsuit on Immediate Execution

The Constitutional Court of Georgia accepted the Rustavi 2 and Georgia TV lawsuit against the Parliament of Georgia on the immediate execution of newly adopted articles as unconstitutional.

The lawsuit, filed by Rustavi 2 lawyers on October 26th,claims the articles of immediate execution go against the Constitution.

Accordingly, “the lawyers are not able to enjoy the right to fair trial preserved in the Constitution.”

A statement by Rustavi 2 says that there is a danger that the City Court will deliver a judgment against Rustavi 2.

“We will not be able to enjoy the right to a fair trial because of the incompliance of the articles of immediate execution with the Constitution of Georgia” the statement says.
