Music of Legendary Giya Kancheli Performed in The Hague

The legendary Georgian composer Giya Kancheli, who launched an absolutely new era in the field of music and earned international acclaim worldwide, passed away on October 2.

The Embassy of Georgia to the Kingdom of the Netherlands has reported that today, October 4, the works of the Georgian maestro ‘Yellow Leaves’ and the composition from the iconic film ‘The Eccentrics’ were played at the bell tower of St. Jacobs oldest church of the city of The Hague, the Netherlands. The masterpieces were performed by Gijsbert Kok, the musician of the bell tower, in honor of the composer.

“The Embassy of Georgia expresses its deepest sorrow over the passing of the legendary composer, Giya Kancheli. His music transcended time and culture and it will live on forever,” reads the statement of the Embassy.
