President of Germany to Visit Odzisi Crossing Point
On October 8, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will visit the crossing point of Odzisi, a village located on the border to the region of Tskhinvali.
There at the cross point, the representatives of the Georgian government will inform President Steinmeier about the current situation near the occupation line. Odzisi offers a clear view of the Russian military base in the occupied village of Akhalgori. Within the frames of his visiting Odzisi crossing point, the President of Germany will also meet with EUMM (European Union Monitoring Mission) representatives.
The German President is visiting Georgia with his wife Elke Budenbender. The official visit will conclude today.
Frank-Walter Steinmeier’s official visit to Georgia started upon his arrival on the evening of October 6. On Monday, October 7, the President of Germany met with the President and Prime Minister of Georgia, as well as His Holiness and Beatitude Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II.
President of Germany last visited Georgia in 2016 while he still served as the FM of Germany.
