PM Gakharia on Mako Gomuri's Nonexistent Victim Status
Mako Gomuri was one of the protestors injured during the June 20-21 clashes. The 19-year-old Gomuri lost her eye during the "Gavrilov’s Night" protests and the Prosecutor’s Office has yet to recognize her as a victim.
When reporters asked him a question concerning Gomuri’s case, Prime Minister Gakharia commented on the subject.
“The process of recognizing a person as a victim has its rules and as far as I know, these procedures are in progress concerning Mako Gomuri. As soon as they are complete, she will be recognized as a victim,” PM Gakharia told the media.
The PM was also asked if Gomuri had turned down his request of meeting with her. Gakharia denied the information, saying that: “I have not requested a meeting with her. I might in the future. As soon as I make plans for it, I will announce it publicly.”
