“What’s on your mind?” asks Artisterium International Contemporary Art Exhibition

The annual festival Artisterium will be held for the 8th time in Tbilisi, opening on November 6th at the Ioseb Grishashvili History Museum.

The event aims to create a unifying space for contemporary artists and visitors.

Each year the theme reflects on world problems and social issues the country faces. This year’s theme, What’s on your mind?, addresses Facebook users.

The artists harness social technology to comment on how our new connectivity is changing our culture. Social networks give everyone the chance to be heard, and communication between friends and strangers, has never been simpler.

"We ask them to investigate the modern concepts of what is genuinely real and what is virtual in the rapidly evolving matrix of human communication,” the museum administration said.

The artists are tapping into the idea of online communities and making works that harness new capabilities. They ask the visitor when they express their opinions, do they exhibit their feelings with a status written on their wall or through displayed photos which reflects their minds and, feelings. The artworks critique and expose all parts of society, including gender issues, culture, politics, and everyday problems.

Visitors will be able to enjoy the exhibition on November 6th starting at 7:00 p.m.

The Tbilisi History Museum will also host an Artisterium event by Vandana Jain and Mike Estabrook on November 7th at 1:13 p.m.
