Turkey Invades North-East Syria

Turkey’s expected invasion of Syria has officially begun. President Erdoğan just published a tweet on his official Twitter page, confirming the country’s launching operation in North-East Syria.

“The Turkish Armed Forces, together with the Syrian National Army, just launched #OperationPeaceSpring against PKK/YPG and Daesh terrorists in northern Syria. Our mission is to prevent the creation of a terror corridor across our southern border and to bring peace to the area,“ reads the Turkish President’s tweet.

The Journalists from the Associated Press on the Turkish side of the border, have been reporting since earlier today that Turkish forces were crossing into Syria in military vehicles, though there was no official word from either side up until Erdoğan’s tweet, that the offensive had begun.
