De-facto Security Services Accuse Georgian Side of Provocation

"The behavior at the illegitimate checkpoint and presence of Georgian forces near the village of Tsneli have significantly increased the risk of military threat on the border and may even trigger an open armed conflict," the South Ossetian "security committee" was cited as saying by the Russian Sputnik agency.

"Georgian provocateurs do not cease their revanchist aspirations and create a hub of instability at the South Ossetian-Georgian border. And Georgian special services have been spreading misinformation over the past two months and misleading not only the Georgian population but also Georgia's political leaders," states Ekaterina Biazrova, head of the security committee’s press center.

She adds that Georgian security forces are organizing an extensive provocation in the area. "At the border in the villages of Koda, Abano, Kobi, Tsaghvli and Atotsi, they restrict the movement of Georgian activists, media and NGOs to prevent an objective assessment of the situation there. The presence of the policemen and the Georgian checkpoint near the settlement of South Ossetia increases the risk of a military threat that could lead to armed clashes," Biazrova added.

Such provoking and confrontational statements are a part of the misinformation operation directed by the occupation forces with the help of their Russian associates. This type of falsification is not new to the Moscow or their supported breakaway republics, and in this case, it is happening near the village of Chorchana of the Khashuri municipality.

‘Overall, these de-facto services relentlessly try to justify their inflammatory actions along the occupation line.’ the Georgian State Security Service issued in response to the statement of the de-facto security committee of the Tskhinvali region (South Ossetia).

The central administration operating in Tbilisi claims to be using all of its power to safeguard the wellbeing of the local populace on the ground.

"Out hotline is working in permanent mode and information is timely provided to our international partners," the State Security Service said.
