UNM Chairman Announces Rallies in Case of Dismissing Proportional Electoral System

“If the proportional system is dismissed for the 2020 elections, we will take to streets", says Grigol Vashadze, Chairman of the United National Movement.

Vashadze assesses the project’s turndown by the members of the ruling party and calls it an oversight.

"I is hard for me to account for yesterday's poor performance. It could have been a scenario to show our allies how difficult it is to keep a promise in a democratic nation or to show Georgian citizens how devotedly the so-called Georgian Dream upholds its internal democracy. But the controversy is simple - either the 2020 elections will be held under proportional system, or we will take to streets.”

“You can be sure that each person who votes for the bill today, will do the same in spring,” Vashadze adds.
