Ivanishvili: GD will Get More than 50% of Votes in 2020 Elections

Bidzina Ivanishvili, the leader of the ruling party Georgian Dream, said the GD would receive 'significantly more' than 50% of votes in the 2020 elections.

Speaking in an Imedi TV talk show on November 27, Ivanishvili said he was worried about the recent developments about the proportional electoral system.

“Of course both I and the entire ream are worrying about the recent developments. It would be better if it had not happened so. I was very actively involved in the process and we've managed to maintain stability in the team. We have the resources and we will show both the politicians and our voters that we will receive significantly more than 50% through a proportional list in the 2020 elections. The dissolution of the majority would be tragic for this country," he told Imedi TV.

During his speech, Ivanishvili also claimed that he does not rule out sending an open letter to US Congress or Senate to "publicly explain how US funded organizations are damaging US interests in Georgia."

“Of course, the US-Georgian relations are damaged. Our team inviolately protects the US. interests, and there is no example that any member of our team does anything against it. We firmly and sincerely protect the US interests. What is happening here is that the people of the National Movement are governing the NGOs, founded by Americans, that is a very sad reality,” he noted.
