Kakha Kuchava Elected New Parliament Vice-speaker

Kakha Kuchava, the member of the parliamentary majority, has been elected as the parliament’s fourth vice-speaker, with 83 votes in favor of his appointment to this vacant position.

With 81 votes, the lawmakers have also approved Guram Macharashvili as the Chair of Procedural Issues and Rules Committee.

There has been a need for new staffing in parliament after several MPs of the ruling Georgian Dream quit their positions as a sign of protest against the rejection of the GD-proposed electoral system on November 14.
