Representatives of Ruling Party and Opposition to Meet on November 30
"Representatives of the ruling Georgian Dream party and opposition will hold a meeting on November 30," Irakli Kobakhidze, a member of the parliamentary majority, said. The so-called German Model of elections will be the main topic of discussion at the meeting, which will also be attended by representatives of the Diplomatic Corps.
Kobakhidze further noted that the meeting and discussions are taking place on the recommendation of Diplomatic Corps accredited in Georgia and international organizations. The venue and format of the meeting will be finalized later today.
The German Model of elections, proposed by the opposition, requires changes in the Election Code by 76 votes to be approved. The model was first initiated in the Georgian parliament in 2016.
Representatives of opposition parties claim that German Model will satisfy the demand for the proportional rule of elections.
