Investigation Underway into Clashes outside UNM Office in Zugdidi

The investigation is in progress under Article 187 (Damage or destruction of property) of the Georgian Criminal Code regarding the events that took place at Zugdidi’s United National Movement (UNM) office. The Secretary of the Head of Zugdidi Police, Levan Kvirkvia has reported to Rustavi 2 that the investigation is already underway.

Kvirkvia has further reported that if the fault of particular civilians uncovers during the investigation, the law-enforcing organs will take appropriate measures.

On December 3 an aggressive rally took place in front of the UNM political party’s office. The violent protestors swore off the representatives of the opposition, threw eggs, bottles and walking sticks at the building. They also brought plastic barrels to the UNM office. The members of the aggressive rally broke the glass of the office; the bottle and walking stick that they threw around hit a policeman in the head.
