Bagram US Airbase Hit with a Suicide Bomber and Armed Assailants

At least 80 people were wounded, and a woman was killed in a car bombing and consequent artillery attack by gunmen at the largest United States military base in Afghanistan.

The attack on the base, which President Trump had recently visited on thanksgiving, came as peace talks recommenced between American officials and Taliban agents in Doha, Qatar.

A vehicle loaded with explosives was directed towards the southern part of the base, which is the site of a medical facility under construction. Several assailants then entered the US base, engaging in a firefight with Afghan and coalition forces.

According to the Georgian Defense Ministry, 5 Georgian servicemen were injured due to the attack.
