'Car Honking Protest' to Support Vazha Gaprindashvili
The family of Doctor Vazha Gaprindashvili actively encourages society to join the upcoming ‘car honking protest’, that will be held on December 29 at 7 PM, demanding freedom to the abducted doctor.
At the press conference, the daughter of the famous Georgian doctor, explained in detail how exactly the ‘car honking protest’ is going to work.
“On December 29, throughout Georgia and not only, at 7 PM the 'car honking protest' will start. I urge all of you to join us. All of you who are concerned with the imprisonment of my father, Doctor Vazha Gaprindashvili; all of you who care about freedom, who care about yourselves now and in the future. The mission is quite easy: honk your cars wherever you may be at 7 PM,” said Irina Gaprindashvili, the daughter of Dr. Gaprindashvili.
Additionally, during the press conference the daughter of the abducted doctor reported that following the initiative of the Gaprindashvili family, a working team has been created which will actively communicate with the society. The coordinator of the team is the Director of the National Library, Giorgi Kekelidze. Irina Gaprindashvili noted that the team has organized a supporting event for the abducted doctor. Within the frames of the Book Festival, on December 27, the writers, and representatives of religious and ethnic minorities will project their support of Dr. Gaprindashvili.
Doctor Gaprindashvili was illegally detained on November 9 in the region of Akhalgori. On December 20, the Court of the ‘Leningori Region’ charged the Georgian doctor with illegally crossing the so-called border and sentenced him to one year and nine months in prison.
