NBG: Gross External Debt of Georgia in 2019 Amounted to $17.8 Billion

In 2019, the gross external debt of Georgia amounted to $17.8 billion, declared the National Bank of Georgia, in the third quarter reducing by $433.6 million.

External debt of the public sector amounted to $7.4 billion, which is 42.6% of the gross domestic product (GDP), while external liabilities of the National Bank of Georgia amounted to $404.6 million, the same bank states.

External debt of the banking sector amounted to $4.2 billion, which is 24.4% of GDP.

At the start of the fourth economic quarter, intercompany lending came to $3.3 billion which amounted to 18.8% of gross domestic product.
