US Ambassador Presents Credentials to Georgian President and FM
Today, the US Embassy in Tbilisi released information on the first official meeting between the Ambassador, President Salome Zurabishvili and Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani.
“Ambassador Kelly C. Degnan had the honor of presenting her credentials to Minister of Foreign Affairs David Zalkaliani and President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili.
Ambassador Degnan will now officially assume her duties as the Chief of Mission of the United States to Georgia,” reads the Facebook post by the Embassy.
The Ambassador-elect will now assume her functions as a fully operational Ambassador along with her team.
The new US Ambassador to Georgia, Kelly Degnan, arrived in Georgia on January 29.
The newly appointed US Ambassador, who took her oath on January 17 in the US Department of State, has given out her first comments to the Georgian media, saying it is a great honor for her to represent the United States in Georgia.
“I'm glad to be here. It is a great honor for me to serve as the US Ambassador to Georgia and I look forward to contributing to the strong partnership between Georgia and the US”, said the Ambassador.
“I think Georgia has made tremendous progress over the years and there is still a lot to be done,” stated Ambassador Dagnan. She said she is “looking forward to helping Georgia, with the team and Washington, to achieve stability, success, and safety.”
