US Ambassador Receives Opposition Leaders
On February 18, the newly appointed US Ambassador to Georgia, Kelly Degnan hosted opposition leaders. In particular, she met with Davit Usupashvili, Nino Burjanadze, Giga Bokeria, Tina Bokuchava, Giorgi Vashadze, and, as the embassy reports, they discussed Georgia’s current political environment.
“Ambassador Kelly Degnan today hosted opposition leaders to meet them and discuss Georgia’s political environment. Ambassador Degnan reiterated the importance of all sides actively participating in the ongoing political dialogue and wider electoral reform process to address OSCE-ODIHR recommendations,” reads the publication on US Embassy to Georgia’s website.
Burjanadze told the TV Channel TV Pirveli, that it was an “acquainting meeting.”
“It was very interesting - an acquainting meeting for us members of the opposition to share our ideas and viewpoints with the US Ambassador since we never really got to do that until now. We also talked about our plans,” reported Burjanadze.
