Neglected Memory: Exhibition in Karvasla

On February 26, Tbilisi History Museum presented a new exhibition 'Neglected memory' by artist Ia Mchedlishvili.

In her works, Ia Mchedlishvili represents historical consciousness in the form of paper figures. She focuses on the first half of the last century, in particular. The author thinks, that our memory of that period is fragmented, scattered and vague and does not form a unified form of historical experience.

“I believe that the first half of the twentieth century needs to be studied more and more deeply. We need to change the outlook on the historical drama that took place during the time. My ancestors were victims of this period, the Soviet era that was just a big era of terror,” the artist has said in relation to her inspiration for the project.

The exposition will include paintings, video, and installation. The exhibition aims to present the original form and idea to the general public.

The exhibition will be open until March 10 in Karvasla.
