Trump Closes Borders with Europe for One Month

President Trump is suspending flights directed from Europe to the United States. The President wrote on Twitter that during a 30-day period European passengers will not be able to enter the United States. The directive will be activated from Friday, March 13.

Yesterday, President Donald Trump said that he was "marshaling the full power of the federal government" to challenge the growing health crisis. This includes a month-long termination of travel from Europe to the US.

Trump added that he was supervising "the most aggressive and comprehensive effort to confront a foreign virus in modern history."

According to the official stats and data, there are 118,000 cases globally and more than 4,000 deaths, and ‘the virus has found a foothold on every continent except for Antarctica.’

"We'll be starting some additional solutions," Trump declared "[Europe is] having a tough time right now with the virus. And we'll be making various decisions".

The President added that the travel ban will only affect passengers and it does not involve goods coming from Europe.

“Please remember, it's very important for all countries & businesses to know that trade will in no way be affected by the 30-day restriction on travel from Europe. The restriction stops people, not goods.” The President wrote on Twitter.

The US Embassy in Tbilisi also issued an instructive text on their Facebook page: “The travel restriction applies to foreign nationals who have been in 26 European countries with open borders agreements, in the last 14 days. Those exempt from these restrictions, such as U.S. citizens, will be directed to limited airports where screening can take place.”
