UK Criticized for Battle Plan against Coronavirus
France will be closing all educational institutions, while a ‘state of emergency’ has been announced in New York City, as nations steady for an additional increase in coronavirus cases.
Criticism has hit the British Cabinet after Mr. Johnson publicized the next stage of the coronavirus ‘battle plan’.
Previously, it was revealed by the UK administration that around 5,000 to 10,000 in the British Isles could already be infected by the virus. Overall, 10 people have now died in the UK from the virus, whereas two people have been confirmed to have died after getting the COVID-19 precisely in London.
In his address, Boris Johnson urged anyone with a "new, continuous" cough, high temperatures or fever to self-isolate for seven days, as the UK administration struggles to tackle coronavirus.
The PM said it was essential to get the ‘timing right’ for stricter measures, which the international scene is criticizing Johnson for.
There have been 596 confirmed cases across the UK. However, the actual number of people infected may be between 5,000 and 10,000, the government's chief scientific adviser Sir Patrick Vallance states.
"Some people compare it to seasonal flu, alas that is not right. Owing to the lack of immunity, this disease is more dangerous, […] It is going to spread further, and I must level with you, I must level with the British public, many more families are going to lose loved ones before their time," stated Boris Johnson.
"The scientific advice is that this could do more harm than good at this time - but of course we are keeping this under review and this again may change as the disease spreads," the Prime Minister adds.
