PM Addresses the Governors of Georgia

“You bear the responsibility for the execution of decisions made by the Government of Georgia towards COVID-19 prevention in the regions of the country and you share this duty with the respective public institutions,” Giorgi Gakharia, Prime Minister of Georgia, told Governors at a special conference held today at the Government Administration.

The Head of Government underlined that the country is now arriving at a phase of severe spread, following a standstill phase, and it is crucially essential that effective, synchronized measures be correctly implemented throughout the country.

“It is most important for you to stand ready to carry out several critical functions in the regions. Decisions made by the Government of Georgia to suspend the operation of restaurants, fitness clubs, gym, etc. need to be executed immediately by you in the regions together with the respective public institutions, of course,” the PM told the Governors.

According to the newly implemented Government Resolution, minibuses will stop working both in regions as well as the city, temporarily.

The PM advised the Governors to execute the decision with the highest degree of efficiency, alongside any other recommendations distributed by the Inter-Agency Coordination Council of the Government of Georgia. As ordered by the Prime Minister, Governors will work in full dexterity with the corresponding public institutions.
