Ekaterine Sharashidze: Georgian Government is Ready to Battle Coronavirus

Currently the Partner of the British Investment Company and formerly Georgia’s Minister of Economy, Ekaterine Sharashidze spoke to TV-Pirveli in a live feed from London. She spoke about the challenges which have arisen in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak in Britain.

Sharashidze spoke of doubts that the NHS, the British healthcare system which is already in crisis, can cope with the coronavirus outbreak, and reaffirmed that Georgia possesses some tools to battle the pandemic effectively.

“I want to tell you sincerely, that Georgia’s sectors are much readier than what I see in England. Specifically, what is happening in the healthcare sector. It does not occur often, that Georgia is leading compared to developed countries. What I see from here, this is the scenario. The healthcare system here is already in crisis, what they can cope with now is doubtful. Because of this, the situation here will worsen. At this stage, we don’t even know how many citizens are infected, because they are only testing the ones who show up at the medical facilities, those who are already ill,” said Sharashidze.
