Gov't Shuts Down Trading Facilities amid COVID-19 Concerns

In order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in the country, the Georgian government has decided to shut down all shopping malls, except for grocery stores, pharmacies, gas stations, post offices, and banks, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia announced after the National Security Council session.

"This is a necessary step for the health of our citizens. This is necessary to halt the domestic spreading of the virus", he noted. 

The PM added that at this stage there is no need to declare a state of emergency in the country. 

Members of the Cabinet of Ministers, President Salome Zurabishvili and Speaker Parliament of Georgia Archil Talakvadze attended the session chaired by Prime Minister.
