PM: No Need to Declare State of Emergency Today
"Given the current situation in the country, there is no need to declare a state of emergency today," Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said after the National Security Council session.
However, the head of the government noted that if necessary, the state will take such a decision immediately.
"We have discussed the issue of declaring a state of emergency in the country. As of today, I would like to emphasize that there is no such necessity, but in agreement with the President, we have decided that as soon as the need arises, we will be able to make this decision within a few hours,” he said.
Members of the Cabinet of Ministers, President Salome Zurabishvili and Speaker Parliament of Georgia Archil Talakvadze attended the session chaired by Prime Minister.
