Russia Starts Testing Vaccine for COVID-19

Russia’s hygienic overseer Rospotrebnadzor has propelled tests of a vaccine against the novel coronavirus, TASS news agency has reported.

"In order to prevent and control the COVID-19 epidemic, the State Research Center of Virology and Biotechnology Vector of Rospotrebnadzor has swiftly developed prototypes of vaccines based on six various technological platforms," the watchdog company said.

According to the sanitary regulator company, specialists have managed to create vaccines based on broadly used in different vectors of flu.

"When new vaccines are developed in modern biology, it is necessary to carry out in vivo tests on sensitive laboratory animals," Rospotrebnadzor stated.

These tests are intended to define the most effective dose, frequency, and methods of injection.

Russia has 199 confirmed coronavirus cases.
