De-facto Abkhazia Tightens Controls in Gali
The de-facto breakaway region of Abkhazia is holding a special conference about the coronavirus problem, in which additional measures are predicted to go into effect, Abkhaz media details. The press has confirmed that the situation is calm at the moment.
The de-facto administration strengthened quarantine measures after a woman transported from Gali to Zugdidi tested positive for coronavirus. As the local media states, all the entries to Gali are hindered and the populace is not able to leave the region.
The local media reported that the woman arrived at the Psou checkpoint from Moscow on March 29 and crossed the "Russian-Abkhaz border". The infected patient soon developed symptoms of the virus, after which she went to a local Abkhaz hospital, where it was decided to send the woman to Georgia.
