Ambassador: Quarantine in Turkey is Tighter than in Georgia

"By cooperating with Georgia, we will increase the effectiveness of the economy, and we will survive together. It will take time, but the borders between the countries will be reopened," said the Ambassador of Turkey to Georgia, Fatma Seren Yazgan.

She noted that tighter restrictions have been imposed in Turkey due to coronavirus than in Georgia.

"We have seen an increase in coronavirus cases in the last few weeks, however, the government has further tightened quarantine. Restrictions in our country are stricter compared to Georgia. In Turkey, restrictions not only apply to the driving of private vehicles, but we are not even allowed to go out, which helps us to fight COVID-19.

"The population in Turkey is large, more than 80 million, and we are very sincere in dealing with the pandemic. Our Minister of Health announces the answers to PCR tests daily and it is really an impressive number. We already know of about 19,000 cases, it’s a pandemic. It’s hard, but we are dealing with it. Our older generation, grandparents, have seen and experienced even worse times. By cooperating with Georgia, we will increase the effectiveness of the economy, and we will survive together. It will take time, but the borders between the countries will be reopened," said the Ambassador.

Ambassador Seren Yazgan attended the Turkish Red Crescent's handing over of humanitarian aid to the Georgian Red Cross Society today.
