Vice PM in BBC Interview: We Should Learn to Coexist with COVID-19
"The Georgian government is working actively to support the economy along with the fight against the new coronavirus," Maia Tskitishvili, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure and Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, said in a radio interview with BBC Radio Program 'Newsday.'
When asked by journalist Lawrence Pollard about the approximate date of the lifting of quarantine restrictions, the Vice PM said that steps had to be made carefully before the availability of a vaccine against the virus.
“We should be careful and strictly follow social distancing guidelines. I believe that everybody has to realize the need to adapt to existence with the virus before there is a medicine or vaccine. We should learn to coexist with the new coronavirus,” she said.
Tskitishvili named Georgia's timely and early response, such as temporary suspension of flights and closure of educational institutions, as the main reasons behind the country's unexpected success in the fight against COVID-19.
